Membership terms

By becoming a member of the Griffith University Law Students’ Association Inc (IA57879) (“Griffith LSA”) you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  1. Constitutional Compliance: You agree to abide by the Constitution of Griffith LSA, as amended from time to time.

  2. Membership Eligibility: You understand that membership is granted only when you meet the requirements specified within the Constitution.

  3. Liability Acknowledgment: You understand that Griffith LSA does not have public liability insurance.

  4. Copyright Provisions: You agree to the Copyright Provisions outlined below.

  5. Governing Law: This agreement will be governed by and construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Queensland. The parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the state of Queensland.

  6. Severability: If any provision of this agreement is prohibited by law or judged by a court to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, the provision shall, to the extent required, be severed from this agreement and rendered ineffective as far as possible without modifying the remaining provisions of this agreement, and shall not in any way affect any other circumstances of or the validity or enforcement of this agreement.

  7. Entire Agreement: This agreement is the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes all and any communications, negotiations, arrangements and agreements, whether oral or written, between the parties in respect of the matters that are the subject of this agreement.

Copyright Provisions

  1. Throughout your time as a member of Griffith LSA, You may provide Griffith LSA a work (“Copyright Work”) that You have generated either:

    1. for Griffith LSA; or

    2. in your capacity as a member of Griffith LSA; or

    3. in your capacity as an office-bearer of Griffith LSA; or

    4. In your capacity as a competitor in a Griffith LSA competition; or

    5. using something provided or made available to You by Griffith LSA.

  2. If copyright subsists in any of these Copyright Works and You are the owner of that copyright, You grant Griffith LSA a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable licence to exercise any and all rights forming part of the copyright in those works.

  3. You irrevocably consent to Griffith LSA making use of the Copyright Works without any attribution of authorship.

  4. You irrevocably consent to Griffith LSA making use of the Copyright Works without any integrity of authorship.

  5. You agree that Griffith LSA (including its agents and officers) has not applied duress to you in connection with giving consent to clauses (3) and (4) of these Copyright Provisions.

  6. You grant Griffith LSA the right to sub-licence any part of the copyright in the Copyright Works to any third party.

  7. If you generated any works in the calendar year 2018 that would, should these Copyright Provisions have been in force at the time you generated the works, have been subject to these Copyright Provisions, you agree that these Copyright Provisions apply retrospectively to those works.
